Biblical Preaching Journal
Biblical Preaching Journal is a quarterly
publication designed to assist preachers in their
weekly sermon preparation. Every issue includes an
exegesis and sermon for each Sunday of the quarter.
A different author is featured each Sunday, and the
author chooses his or her text from one of the readings
of the Revised Common Lectionary.
The writers come from both academic and parish settings
and present a variety of preaching styles. The exegesis
is included so that you
can see how the preacher moved from text to sermon.
We know that not every sermon will strike a chord
with every reader, but our readers tell
us that even the preachers they disagree with help
stir the creative juices. Although you may preach
a sermon just as it is written (particularly
those weeks you have 4 committee meetings, a funeral,
10 parishioners in 6 different hospitals to visit,
and the church’s air conditioning
decides to quit!), BPJ is designed to be a springboard
for your own ideas. It’s like having your own regualar
Lectionary study group come
to your office each week.
Now in it’s 20th year of publication, Biblical
Preaching Journal provides inspiration for
thousands of preachers week after week . Why not
join them and
“hear what someone else has to say”?
